The Customer
We work with Burghley's House Management team who are involved in everything from the day to day running of the website to the orchestration (pun intended!) of events held in their grounds throughout the year.
In addition to these responsibilities, the House Management team look after the website to ensure that its look, feel and content educates all interested in this truly beautiful estate.
The Need
With considerable success in marketing Burghley offline, the House Management team asked us to assist them in transferring this success online.
Accessibility to cater for the widest possible audience, ease of use to manage the content of the website, and aesthetics to convey the experiences on offer were all crucial elements that needed to be delivered.
The Solution
Through a series of workshops as part of our IA & Consultancy phase, Lightstone built a profile of the audiences that Burghley were looking to attract. We interviewed a large number of Burghley's staff to ensure that all requirements were understood and catered for.
The site offers all the information a visitor could need when planning a trip to Burghley. Young families, tour operators, teachers organising school trips, heritage enthusiasts and 'Grey Trippers' are all catered for by the new site. The site also challenges preconceptions of what a stately home can offer the visitor.
Burghley.co.uk uses a admin console built by Lightstone to enable Burghley staff to maintain the site easily and with confidence. Keeping site content up to date helps to highlight the fact that Burghley is an attraction with many different offerings for visitors to enjoy all year round.
Testimonial
"It may be more modern than most of our treasures at Burghley, but websites are rapidly becoming the first point of information for many people. We have designed our site with all of our visitors in mind, from those who use the internet all the time to those of us who are more infrequent surfers!"
Lady Victoria Leatham - Custodian of Burghley
